Little fun fact I learned reading the Wikipedia pages: The referee for the fight was Carlos Padilla Jr., a Filipino, selected only a day before the match. The selection was a minor controversy, mainly the boxer camps angling for an edge. Mr. Padilla after the fight had a pretty successful career as a referee after moving to the USA, putting a few more big fights under his belt. Full circle, his last fight refereed was with Manny Pacquiao vs Nedal Hussein in the Philippines in 2000.
